Mission

To provide paediatric patients from across South Africa and Africa with a comprehensive clinical haematology service including benign haematology, haematological-oncology, and haematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

HERoeS HOME works with ACT, OncoLAB, the University of Pretoria, and trusted specialist teams to coordinate high-quality care. Lusandi helps children and families understand complex diagnoses and treatment journeys through local-language medical animation.

Care partner

ACT is the largest adult clinical haematology and bone marrow transplantation service in South Africa. It has JACIE accreditation, recognising facilities that provide exceptional bone marrow transplantation care internationally. HERoeS HOME and ACT doctors work together to provide quality healthcare services.

OncoLAB is a niche haematology and oncology laboratory providing specialised diagnostics. HERoeS HOME uses OncoLAB as its primary haematology and transplant testing laboratory.

Prof Hendricks supervises students in projects relating to gene editing and bone marrow transplantation at the ICMM. These collaborative efforts aim to make bone marrow transplantation and genetically modified treatments more accessible to the South African population.
